On a summer road trip from LA up toward Montana I stopped at Craters of the Moon in Idaho, black lava fields with a single pine tree growing straight out of the rock, alone where nothing should be able to survive. Seeing it let me finish the piece, and gave it its name. I'm Wayne Wilkins, a Grammy-nominated composer and producer, and Arelius is my piano music.
